'Beer Head'

One of a series of landscapes that I painted to exhibit in Bermuda when I was Artist in Residence there in 2009. This painting was started on a Friday under a lowering sky. Sometime in the afternoon I was aware that what I had taken to be sea spray was rain. It pored down in rivulets over the canvas which was painted in acrylic. It was ruined, so I gave up and returned to the studio. On the Monday I was amazed at the texture of the beach and cliffs, so I completed it over at Beer again.
