'Wreck of the Henriette Marie. June 1700' by Mark Horsham
The Henrietta Marie was a merchant slaver that sank off the Florida Keys. I wanted to make a piece of work in which the ropes and timbers of the ship become so overwhelmed by the sound and movement of the storm that they become almost indistinguishable from it. For that reason I deliberately made the ship’s straight dark lines almost identical to the dark rolling curved lines of the waves. At the same time I wanted there to be a sense of uncertainty, panic almost.
