'The Matterhorn' by Paul Manchester
I wanted to convey a sense of the crisp cold air associated with the Alps at high altitude with this painting. Using geometric brush strokes and a heavily contrasting underpainting I have tried to bring the same contemporary style of painting I employ in my portraiture to a landscape. In recent years I have spent many very happy hours in the Alps and surrounding regions, a place full of animal noise and sculpted geological beauty.
