As discussed in my artist profile, this portrait was painted to celebrate those who commit their lives to the protection of the natural world. The water protectors have been fighting the Dakota access pipeline (Keystone pipeline) for years. During Obama's presidency they were victorious and operations ceased. However with the bewigged toddler in the Whitehouse, Keystone are once again active in their pipeline construction.
