Moroccan tea

Still life inspired by a typical Moroccan table setting during a break in Marrakech. Like many of my still life paintings this one is simplified with non-essential detail excluded. This allows a greater focus on the simple lines and sharp contrasts between the objects that remain. In this case I was keen to contrast the ornate detailing of the traditional teapot with the simple, cheap modern plastic tray on which the items sit. Reflections and reflective surfaces as ever also play a great part.
