'Eye of Anemone'

I love how inside every flower there resides a little universe of divine structure. This highly magnified detail of the centre of a Japanese anemone flower is one such example of a 'macrocosmic' world inside a microcosmic detail! Initially painted using dilute gouache I have then layered in the finer details with coloured pencil and some acrylic pen. I also painted a thin layer of pearlescent acrylic over the petal areas so this painting shimmers a little just as the petals do in reality.
