Root Chakra – ‘I Am’ The Root chakra (or Muladhara chakra) is the first of the seven chakras and is located at the base of the spine. Each chakra is meant to govern different parts of the body and different emotions. The root chakra is connected to earth and is usually associated with survival, security and instinct and is blocked or unbalanced by fear. It is traditionally red in colour and represented by a lotus flower with four petals.
