Biography
Hello, I am an artist, illustrator and graphic novelist working in traditional and digital media (pencils, colour pencils, ink, watercolour/gouache, oil as well as Adobe photoshop and illustrator), and have just completed my MFA in Illustration at Manchester School of Art. My practice began whilst I was living in Newcastle, where I fell in love with the architecture of the city - something I still return to. I have an authentic, and graphic style that I use to find the narrative within a subject - be that a commissioned image, portrait, landscape or in the development of graphic novel. I am fascinated by cityscape and landscape and the way in which spaces tell us stories and represent the lives within them; increasingly I have combined this fascination with my excitement with the potential of comics as the basis for design principles. My recent professional work has been concerned with representing research around the ideas of medical identity and patient experience, and in conveying archaeological to a new audience. In my work I like to consider the poetics of illustration - whether in comics or in my employment of metaphor.
