PGART Full Time Professional

Biography

Philip was born in St. Helens in 1958. Artistic talent ran in his family though he was the first to develop his interest and skills and paint professionally. Philip cannot recall the exact age when he started to draw and paint though he was very young and remembers asking for sets of paints as birthday presents. At school he frequently came top in art demonstrating talent from a very early age. His ambition was that one day he would become a professional artist. Upon leaving school he went into surveying and estate agency where he was able to develop commercial skills which also helped him in the art world. Philip continued to paint in every spare moment practicing and perfecting until after many years his first major breakthrough came when he began to paint still life and this enabled him to turn professional in 1996. Since turning professional Philip has developed his portfolio into other genres and throughout the following years won several awards and had work accepted for exhibition by leading art organizations. Most artists ally themselves to a particular group of like-minded painters and Philip belongs to the “Classical Realism” school. The movement places great emphasis on the development of true artistic skill and the creation of paintings of great beauty. Philip's work hangs in private collections in the UK, USA and Australia.
