Biography
Ivan is a retired veterinary surgeon who has become a pastel artist. Born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, now living and working in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside. Ivan was introduced to pastels as a teenager by a friend of his father and, in fact, still has remnants of his first set of pastels. Ivan passed A level art at 16, then went on to complete a veterinary science degree - Ivan's great understanding of animals gives that something extra special to his artwork. As a pastel artist, Ivans feel that pastels have a great vibrancy and richness of colour that is often under-appreciated. Working largely from photographs and undertaking commission work as well as creating artwork in a wide range of subject matter. Ivan gives each piece a 3-dimensional effect and detail is of vital importance - each 12in by 16in artwork takes 25 to 30 hours to complete. All artwork is sold framed. Ivan has completed a large number of works and commissions in the past 19 years and admires the work of many artists including the Impressionists, Pre-Raphaelites, David Shepherd, Simon Coombes and many of his contemporaries. Ivan has exhibited widely in Herefordshire and has two forthcoming exhibitions in 2019.

I came across the web-site by chance. One of our young cats had very sadly recently been killed and I wanted something unique to remember him by as he was very special to us. After reviewing a few artists and their work, I came across Ivan Jones. I am so glad I did. Ivan has been amazing. Firstly, a really nice and genuinely kind man, an amazing artist, he has provided us with a magical forever memory with the painting he has produced. Ivan kept me posted throughout and even shared some videos of the work as it progressed. Ivan consulted with me at key stages to ensure I got exactly what I wanted. The painting is amazing and it was very well packaged and delivered by courier. I have had a great experience using the web-site and commissioned a wonderful artist. I can highly recommend Ivan and I will be commissioning further works with him in the future.
